A big, sad streak of crafty FAIL

Do you ever have a string of projects that just end terribly? After feeling pretty pleased with my diaper covers, pending a fit check after Robert is born, I decided one day that I'd like to make some wool bracelets. Actually, I decided to use cashmere.

I tried to do a woven thing.

I tried to do a machine-sewn thing.

I tried one more time.

And after that last one I was almost afraid to pick my scissors up again. Then I tried, at length, to make my mom a birthday gift. I knew it was going to be awesome. Ohhh it was a mess. I didn't have the heart to take a picture of it, but finally I abandoned that effort and made her something totally different.

I think my crafty fail streak is over, but I'm being careful to pace myself now so I don't get discouraged and quit. There are a couple of things I've finished since then which turned out pretty well and I'll post photos soon.

What do you do to get back on track when one of your craft projects fails?

This happens to me a lot with cooking: I'll have some great successes and then everything just turns out terrible for a while. I usually take a break and try again when I feel truly inspired. Good luck!

I don't know if this will make you feel better but you are not alone. I usually give several more tries to the 'I'll finish it later' projects after which I face and accept the reality - not good at it, move on. It's a difficult decision initially but it makes room for a new try and a new project. Happy crafting!
